[Anika 25 months] Night of a sleepless parent

Last week was our 9th Year Wedding Anniversary  (23rd Dec) and Richa and Aditi's Mom gave use a free pass from parenting by letting us go on a lunch date and a Hindi movie (Dangal) at night. It was great to go to a Sushi restaurant after soooo long!

I've been noticing that Anika is getting better with her cold/post-nasal drip situation at night. She still has the stuffy nose which we have been relieving with a hot bath at 7pm and multiple rounds of washing nose with warm tap water. We have also been giving her Haldi-Kuf , an ayurvedic cough syrup with Adulsa since there is no decongestant that she can take at this time.

I'm not sure if this has any effect on the waning of this cold/cough but its not harmful , so we don't mind trying it. However, Anika is still waking up 3-4 times a night which causes me to wake up and put her back to sleep. Taking the last week of the year off from work has been good and I hope we can get past this cold!
Anika also started going to Day-care from 12/27 (Vimmi-ji has to go to St. Louis to take care of her BIL while Seeta-ji is taking up the reigns of the day care).

Meehika smile!
Meehika has started to respond to vocal variations and gives a beautiful smile! So cute! We are also impressed with her patience and tolerance towards tummy time. She gives it her full try and doesn't even squeak for a full 3-4 mins ( which is the recommended duration for tummy time).
Meehika's responses are adorable and she will give Anika company in cute expressions! Definitely a calmer demeanor than her older sister, although its too early to say!

Signing off!

[Anika 25 months] 12/15 Daily log

Anika has been recovering from a cold for the last 2 weeks. Its horrible that parents do not have a medicine or a way by which to relieve the little ones ( cough medicines are recommended for ages 4+). Papa is sleeping with Anika these days as we have Mom sleeping with Meehika. Meehika wakes up every few hours but she is feeding well. Once in a while, she has these stomach cramps or something which cause her to cry and fuss with eating milk.

After Anika turned two, she has shown a lot of improvement on her language skills. She always asks "Horse.. Hindi?" or "Squirrel.. Hindi?" when she wants to know the translation of a word. It makes us adults scratch our heads to get the translation for the word. Anika has also become strong and really makes it difficult for anyone to control when she is in a fit of anger or she doesn't want to do something. Anika has a temper and can blow her top when she is not listened to. She pulls Papa's glasses away and sometimes even throws on the floor!

[Parents state]
Prateek has been making Anika sleep at night. She goes off to sleep relatively easily, but due to the blocked nose, she has labored breathing at night which causes her to wake up multiple times, thus disturbing the sleep of the adult. The cold has been going on for 3 weeks now. The lack of sleep causes Papa to be susceptible to cold/cough.

Mumma also gets intermittent sleep since she is taking care of Meehika. Mumma and her mom are taking care of Meehika through the night. Both are sleep deprived.  Here she is!
